Broached Sewing Box
Jon Goulder
Many pieces of furniture served functions that no longer exist in contemporary households. Sewing and mending clothes used to be standard in most homes.
This piece is an abridged version of the mid 19th C sewing table, which had a cloth bag on the underside of the table to store the sewing materials and tools.
This object provides for daily accessible storage within the open ‘bag’ and then more discrete storage within the liftable lid. It is designed to fit perfectly on top of a generously sized console, credenza or kitchen island.
